Sister Mary
Rest Day – what is it and what do you do?
Once in a while, about every four or five days, we get a rest day.
Today is one. I slept in till 07:00 after a tough day yesterday, stomach still seems queasy and feeling about 70% and I have a slight fever that seems to come and go.
We are staying in a Convent on the edge of Marsabit, a bustling little Kenyan town.
I did a little yoga, as I felt stiff but rested. The nuns made us a breakfast of four slices of white bread, plum jam and margarine, a hard boiled egg and sausage. Although the sausage looked good I gave mine away.
First things first. Bike clean, chain lubed, inspect, fit another water bottle. Laundry (I sent mine to the nuns yesterday).
Tent clean and repaired. Aedo, a Dutch engineer from Holland, Albert, an engineer from Germany, Craig, who is a Retired CFO from Cape Town, Richard, a builder from Calistoga, CA all headed to town.
We took the back way. Shops, goats, kids, it is like a maze.
ATM to get Kenyan Shillings ( about 100 to $1). I shopped for a padlock as mine went missing, juice and nuts at the main store. Lunch. Halal place, it was interesting.
Back to camp where we rested and helped out with repairs and chores.
Glad to see you making posts again.
I was worried that you got eaten by cannibles.
