Stage 9 – Aswan to Desert Camp

For the first half of day I rode with fast group. Lungs clear and ribs feeling better. We reached the lunch stop at 77km by 10:00. The rest of the day was great road and tail wind riding now through full desert. Beautiful! We are camped near a small cantina. While walking to it to get some chips I came upon a small police truck stuck in the sand. I helped dig them out and coordinated a pushing effort and before long we were free. I was invited to dine with the police, machine guns and all. It was windy when we arrived but everyone helped everyone set up their tents. Now it was Alexandra’s birthday and we had a nice celebration after dinner. Tomorrow 150 km.
