Rest Day(s) Windhoek Namibia

What happens on a rest day?
Wake up 05:00- Meditate and realize that I feel good, no serious body aches or very sore ribs,  mind clear, throat not sore.  Legs a little tender but I’ll take it after three 100 mile + days. Enough extra energy to run, that’s a first. Grateful that I am able to do this.
For supporters,  and no hang overs.  That I can breath again.
Last night I splurged and inflated my air mattress since we will be here for two days. Great sleep in little tent.  I miss Marty’s snoring but he is at hotel till his Malaria quiets down.
Yoga then warm out door shower.
Coffee with Craig and Tommy, and Alain about equality.  How do you establish in a society?  Since Craig is from South Africa he has been through Apartheid and after.
Then one, then two, then three, trips to breakfast buffet.  And as many coffees.
Bike shop, new tires for the sand, new bearings that were completely thrashed.  Met Lotto Petrus, pro cyclist, Tour de France, Giro de Italia, Vuelta de Espana.  Namibian champion.
Windhoek is a large modern city.
Lunch with couple riding the tandem around the world.  Mitch and Lesa.  If they finish the first to ride tandem across Africa.  A chat with the local police.
In the afternoon we had Bike donation.  TDA donates bikes for each rider.  Today the bikes went to these two cool organizations.  Their speech’s of thanks bring tears to my eyes.
We understand that some of the bikes are converted to life saving ambulances for remote villages.

And the award for the best outdoor shower and bathroom signs and pictures in Africa goes to Namibia!
If I didn’t know better I would think I was in La Jolla but the tide is out.  Beautiful architecture.  Weather.  Range Rovers, Audi’s,  BMW’s.
Getting cool as we begin to head south towards the great sand dunes and open desert and dark starry skies.
The Journeyer, my bike, is ready for the dirt and sandy roads.  I think finally my mind and body are too.
