Stage – 20 – Rasaa to Bush Camp

143km 6:12 hrs riding time (25.0 kph)

What I thought would be more desert turned out to be a huge plain with farming and some trees. Occasional herds of goats cross the roads. There is a fairly steady stream of truck and bus traffic. The wind is still a factor as we head south east to the border of Ethiopia.

It is there that we start into the climbing. There has been stories of kids throwing rocks at the bike riders in Ethiopia so there is some anxiety about going there.

Highlights:

  • Stopping for tea at a small roadside stand and having the lady letting me know it was on her.
  • Making it through a couple of long days.
  • Great dinners and a nice camp site.
