The good part, only 80kms to go.
A farmer going to work
Swamp thing
Tanzanian back road gas station
A tea stop with Chapati’s
Stage 49 – Soccer field to Biti Mayanga School
132k, 6:15 hrs ( computer wet )
Started off in mud and wet sand but got drier as we went along. Passed many road side micro “gas stations“. Basically a mail box/chicken coop type structure with some coke or water bottles filled with fuel, diesel, gas, kerosene.
Towards the afternoon dark clouds gathered and unleashed their fury. It felt like we had angered the Gods in the Odyssey.
By the time we were 20kms from camp fast moving streams were running down both sides of road.
Highlights:
- Making through the day without wrecking.
- Stopped in funky village for tea.
- Rain stopped for enough time to get tent set up.
Dear Morris,
Please send that rain over here to Arizona! Great knowing that you spoke with Frank the other day.
We continue to discuss you trip each Wednesday morning at XI.
