Stage 54 – Mzuzu to Luviri school yard
126km, 7:42hrs, 6000 vertical, 17.6 avg (aprox)
Stunning scenery and cool temps made this one of the more breath taking stages thus far. Along the way women sell mushrooms, tomatoes and potatoes along the road. Patches of corn and tobacco are seen along the way.
Today I rode Harriet’s, the team doctors bike. She was kind enough to let me ride it as Jordan rode sweep on his bike. Sweep rider goes last to make sure nobody gets left behind.
Big climbs, legs are spongy and tired. Missed turn for camp and rode another 12km. Rained for about the last hour. The rain hurts the blisters on my lips but I have zinc now and it seems to help.
