Stage 70 – Phuduhudu to Maun

134 km, 5:22 hrs, 27.7 avg
The legs revolted, body tired. Heart rate high. Hot, humid. Thank goodness there were no hills. I coasted in on fumes. Spent, from the last four days of hard riding. Hopefully still recovering. Glad tomorrow is a rest day.
Agnes started eating meat again, big steaks and chicken, she says her body needs the protein.
Botswana is a neat country, at least what I’ve seen. Things about it I’ve noticed.  There aren’t many people between towns, sparsely populated. Folks are friendly. Some place names have many syllables and are fun to say, like Pandamatenga. Many of the taxi’s in Maun, pronounced My Un, are Honda Fits.
We are heading into fall here in the Southern Hemisphere and nights and mornings are getting cooler.
The southern cross can be seen in the night sky now as we slowly make our way south towards the last two countries.
In many ways I feel like Odysseus in Homers Odyssey on this journey.
