Day 80 – Betta to Konkiep Lapa 

153km, 6:36hrs, 22kph, avg max 61kph

Road started off tough with climbing through washboard and gravel.

At about 70km the climbing stopped. Then turned hard and then a strong tailwind. At times I hit 45kph on dirt. This would have scared me before but after riding on dirt you begin to get used to it.

Into camp and the routine. Set up tent, shower, laundry, soup, meditate, stretch, clean Bike, rider meeting, dinner, then bed.

There was a sociable weavers nest. This is a variant of the weavers that I wrote about earlier. Instead of each one making a nest and competing, they all work together. Seems more efficient. I’m sure it’s more complicated than this.

I have been trying to learn a little Afrikaans. There are a lot of similarities to Dutch.
