Stage 25 – Gonder to Farm Camp
115km, 5 hrs riding time, 3100’ of climbing
Sickness had hit in Gonder, but still able to ride. My strategy was to go as fast as I could and get into camp and a toilet as quick as I could. I skipped lunch as I wasn’t hungry anyway and it turned into a beautiful day.
Our camp was in a pasture and an occasional heard of cows, sheep or goats would pass. Kids would gather to see who we were.
Some people reported mean kids but I went out and sat quietly with some and they were peaceful and calm.
My thoughts are that they are like any other children and just look for attention.
I’ve stopped and talked to some that looked threatening and my experience is that they would rather learn a new word than cause harm.
Highlights:
- Beautiful roads
- Peaceful villages
- Didn’t throw up or mess my pants during ride
Beautiful photos Morris! Hoping you feel better. Really like your approach with “The Kids”. Makes perfect sense. Great blog. Thank-you 🙂
Thank you!
